Land Use and Sustainability

The Land Use and Sustainability Division is comprised of two branches: Land Use Planning, and Sustainability.

Land Use Planning

The Land Use Planning Branch leads interdepartmental participation in the development, approval and periodic review of regional land use plans pursuant to Lands, Resources and Self-government Agreements and the Deh Cho Interim Measures Agreement in the Mackenzie Valley, and any government led land use planning initiatives in the Wek’èezhìi, Inuvialuit Settlement Region, or the South Slave.

The Sustainability Branch develops and implements standards, guidelines and policies related to the sustainable use of land to ensure the department is prepared for response to land use initiatives and major project review, including interdepartmental consensus building for balanced decision making.
